THE FIELD

Notes from the harvest, 2025.

A short seasonal record: the weather, the flower count, and what the year kept from us.

The 2025 harvest opened on the fourteenth of October and closed on the second of November — three days shorter than the year before, and warmer at the beginning than the pickers preferred. What is written here is a record of that, in the register the field itself uses.

The flower count on the first three mornings ran below the five-year average. It recovered by the sixth morning and finished, across the run, within a whisper of the mean. The colour readings, back in the laboratory in Paris, held; the aroma readings, on two of the lots, were the highest we have seen from this cooperative. What the year kept from us was days at the beginning. What it gave us was aroma at the end. We consider the exchange fair, and we say so on the sheet.

The Letter.

One letter per season. Nothing more.
